Trying to put ad codes inside your blog body

I will try a new experiment from now on

http://tips-for-new-bloggers.blogspot.com/2007/05/adsense-code-in-blogger-post-body.html

This has some tips for how to get your ads inside the body of your blog. I did do some research as to whether it is against the rules of the blogger or the adsense programs.

Since they pretty much give you the control by giving you html edit, I believe there should be no problems from it either.

I will try to see how the ads look in the body of the post.

Also if you are thinking about moving from HTML to XML you may want to get hold of this parser that does just that

http://blogcrowds.com/resources/parse_html.php

I found this handy in converting some of the HTML site I have personal

Optimization that google themselves suggest

There are pretty much many strong guidelines that one can follow while online , but I believe that these are pretty celver ones.

http://adsense.blogspot.com/search/label/Optimization
If you read the first two optimizations that people use , you will find that google has been researching about people and how they use adsense to garner more money for a long time.

People actually, put ads with their content and are make their content in the same color as the ads and that makes some people think that these are publisher created content.

Also, some guys will put all the ads just below a welcome message like

“todays top picks”

And that is it ,one is led to believe in its originality.

Google conducts regular Webinars all the time to let you know of what all they forbid and what all they really take seriously.

I am always a believer of genuine content though

How to reduce the size of an url

I foudn this, site, which does that. Mainly they will take huger URL that at times become non manageable for sites which actually have page trees that go all the way down to the wire, you may have to be reduce it since, then there are websites that have limitations on their number of characters and also , when cutting and pasting them you have a good chance of missing some of the characters.

This is handy in cases where you are uploading img srcs online in your html file.

SEO tip

Finally, I came to know this.

The first thing about SEO is get your URL to reflect what you write. Currently my blog is listed in the top 22 of the results for C puzzles and it is difficult to get exposure this way. I seem to be having better material than many people online since the ones I have on C++ are really the result of studying C++ and seeing it work in major projects.  But the URL seems to be the road block in my case.
Try searching for C puzzles and you will find all urls with relevant names to be on the top 10 list.
But the ones in the second page have less material than I have but the URL seems to be getting in more traffic for the same. In the mean time I am seeing a reducing influx over the last few weeks. Yesterday the number of unique visitors I got is less than 10 and it was as high as 33 in the middle of the week. Today I complete one month of Blogging.

Tomorrow is a sunday and I am planning to put more puzzles with time.

Some more sites selling SEO

I found this one promising and also full of techniques on how to improve the seo;s. SEO’s it seems has reached another level all together,

http://www.ibusinesspromoter.com/optimize/top-10-rankings23.htm

Try this one, he even promotes the whole set of tools in a packaged format , ideal to induce the user to a good amount of money spending.

All the user comments sound pretty convincing. In the last few days that I have been doing research on all sort of SEO;s and people selling them this one looks like a best marketing strategy then ever. He is selling the product, making money form that and also the website gets a lot of visits too.

This is like double profit.

Moreover ranks will reach 10 or else guaranteed money return is something that I really would like to challenge. It is very difficult even for Wikipedia to maintain top rankings all the time. That just shows how much competition is running our there.

I saw one friend of mine just maintaining a site full of questions for interview and that does  much better than the ones online.

I would like to put interview questions myself and have done that in the last weeks mails, and blogs but the google bot has not yet visited my blog after that. So I believe that it will take some time.

In the mean time you can always go through the site to find out how much people are working out there to get the SEO;s in their hands.

Patterns in reading

I did some more research  to find out about the reading patters online for various people. There is a huge bunch of data that needs to be analyzed but most of us will be looking towards a quick glance and tell kind of data.

See this site for more data

http://www.useit.com/alertbox/reading_pattern.html

I have also found some publications but they come at a cost. Advertisers are increasingly moving towards finding out the general patterns in reading and they need to know the correct location that gives them a better chance for publicity. This comes in handy for major newspapers too. The reason for these studies to be charged may be due to the fact that revenues are generated and directly linked to their location in a web page.

It seems that the F pattern or a non linear pattern of reading is visible for people reading  online and newspaper readers generally follow a linear pattern. Thus a avid newspaper reader may be able finish a newspaper with 20k words faster than a ebook with same number of words. Whereas it goes the other way for the ebook reader , though it has not caught up as a trend yet  it has serious implications for the web programs

Moli Moli

The newest attractions onlines and to have made some ripple in the alexa ratings is the moli site

http://www.moli.com/

I just created on account there to understand how it manages multiple accounts for people online. Not much a attraction for a new comer but is handy for a pro. Don’t expect your own blog to be put there.  They have their own domain registration services and they do have a blog hosting service.

You can have a control panel from which you can access all the billing account and general profile information. When Alexa finds a ripple in its results it lets you know from the Alexa blogs, they maintain it religiously and they have already declared facebook to be a out and out winner in its race wit MySpace. Orkut never lived upto its expectations in the United States,

Though in India you will find the rage still hot for the Orkut phenomenon the western countries seemingly have dropped it from its niche.

Here is one interesting article from Moli to get you a first hand feel about the interface. Cool stuff

Know your ranks

Hi All,

This is one cool place where you  to find out the popularity ratings of your website. I have put my blog out there.

I will add the picture of what I got below. My rank turned out to be 9 and my blog does not stand in the top 100,000 blogs.

Alexa was one of the coolest sites that determines your web presence and your popularity. It was taken over by amazon in 1999 at a whopping price tag of 250 million US dollars.

Reeds Law

Since I have started to write so much about blogs and blogging. Current estimates say that about 32 million Americans are reading blogs on a regular basis. Every day the number of blogs getting added to the technorati list is rising exponentially so there is nothing unbelievable right now about blogs and the world.

Reeds law is exactly a quantitative formulation of these facts, According to him the utility of a social network will increase with the size of the network. What he says is that the number of sub groups possible for a network of N people is 2^N –N -1 which is definitely higher than one man to another mapping or ( N  * (N-1) ) / 2 or the number of people on the network which is N.

So this is the mathematical logic behind the derivation. He comes to the conclusion that the number of subgroups possible can be stated as  follows:

Take each one , lets say A elements from a group N . The can either be in one sub group or not, thus increasing the total chances of one being a member of a group being 2^N, remove the ones where there are singletons, you will get the figure

2^N – N – 1.  Well, this law can also be formed from the Metcalfes law, which is completely based on the fact that the utility grows with the size. He comes to the conclusion about 2^N possible connections.

Blogging it seems is serious business in the schools nowadays. I will keep posting about whatever information and bits and pieces I get about the blogging phenomenon in my blog from now on.
